Happy Holidays and New Year's (Plus some important changes)!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the holidays and are getting ready for a roaring New Year's. Whether you go out to a massive club (you know who you are), a house party or a quiet evening with loved ones, I wish you have a great time!

New Year's is like that proverbial page that gets flipped, one that can mean New Beginnings or simply just a change. At the very least, for all of us, it means we are closer to a new tax year. Boo.

As far as changes however, we have gone through some good ones this year! We have grown and our network of sister groups is the largest in city with over 3500+ members! In fact, two of our groups are in the top 10 and the third is in the top 20 out of 1211 (!) in Toronto! Fantastic!

Also we are going to be taking a more socially responsible role this coming year. We will still do events and still have much fun making new friends while at it! Just like we have always done for the last four years but the goal will be to eventually leave meetup.com behind as our main forum and stand on our own. I am slowly working towards that and you will get more news as they come off the press.

As a peek though, we will go through a name change to make it easier for people out there in the interwebs to find us. This slow process has already begun with our Spanish group (Now at SpeakSpanishTO.me).

Secondly, in order for the group to grow, we will star accepting sponsors, which is something I have always been cautious about. You know, careful not to sell out but I am positive that it will increase the value-added to members in the long run. We have started with two with a few more to come. Feel free to check Our Sponsors thread for more details.

Anyway, before this email gets any longer than it is, in the end, I wish you all a Happy New Year and an excellent, forthcoming 2010!!

Best Wishes,
